Long Time Member, Big Time Nutrition Progress!

Jeanine Allin is a staple of the SCF community! She joined the gym back in 2014 and has attended hundreds of classes. At her day job, Jeanine works as a police officer, but she’s also a mother of three and grandmother of an adorable 3-year old! You’ll usually find her in the evening classes, and aerobic capacity is one of her favorites 🙂

We were so excited Jeanine signed up for our 4-Week Macro challenge. She was one of seven members who took part in the challenge in spring of 2022. All participants learned the basics of carbs, fats, and proteins. They were each given a customized plan to eat specific amounts for their goals and held accountable for 4 weeks.

Jeanine had great success during the challenge, and decided to keep the momentum going by continuing 1:1 nutrition with coach Britt. Over the course of almost a year, Jeanine not only lost over 30 lbs and almost 6% body fat, but most importantly, she learned new skills and habits that she can sustain for a lifetime.

I’ve learned so much about what I’m capable of and still I’m able to enjoy my life. Working with a nutrition coach taught me sustainable life skills.”   –Jeanine

While working with Jeanine, we focused on finding the right amount of calories and especially the right amount of protein she needed to achieve her goals. Many of us (women in particular, and especially as we age) have a hard time eating enough protein. For an average 150-lb person, the minimum target for healthy functioning is about 60 grams of protein per day. However, for an active CrossFitter who is looking to maintain or even build muscle, that target is much higher (around 120-150g per day!) This number depends on many other factors and we recommend chatting with a nutrition coach to determine what’s right for you.

Once those targets were established, Jeanine put in the hard work, consistently over time, and started to see progress in and out of the gym. One of the most important things we learned from working with Jeanine is that it’s never too late to get started. We have all heard things like, “once you hit 40, it’s impossible to lose weight” or “after your 20s, it’s inevitable that you’ll gain weight because your metabolism slows down.”  She is living proof that this isn’t true! In fact, Jeanine was just informed by her doctor that she’s being taken off cardiology care! It goes beyond body composition, it’s overall health.

We are inspired by you, Jeanine, and so glad to have you as a part of this community!

If you’re feeling stuck in your nutrition journey, and need a little guidance, we are here to support you. If you’re still not convinced, take it from Jeanine herself:

“A nutrition coach guides and helps the client to think about goals in ways they likely wouldn’t have considered before. All aspects of life can benefit from coaching!”  –Jeanine

We will be running another 4-week challenge this spring, and we are always available for 1:1 coaching. Feel free to reach out to [email protected] at any time for more info!
